Aberdeen Kiltmakers - Certified Kiltmakers Made to Measure Kilts - Handmade in Scotland The Aberdeen Kiltmakers is a collaboration of certified kiltmakers who have completed training at Aberdeen College in Aberdeen, Scotland, in the construction and design of Scottish Kilts using traditional methods, with over 10 years of sewing experience.
Our Kilts: Hand sewn, hand pressed, made to measure excellence, our kilts are constructed to last for a lifetime. You can choose from a vast range of 100% wool tartans milled in Scotland, or inquire about solid colour kilts, or kilts made from more untraditional materials (denim, camouflage, etc...). Regimental or sett pleating, with a MINIMUM of 25 pleats (fewer than 25 pleats makes a woman's skirt, not a kilt!), up to 35 depending on sett size and size of kilt. A minimum of 25 pleats ensures a nice swing!Three lovely black (or brown, your choice!) leather straps, handmade by a saddler in Huntly, Scotland. No cheap stuff here! The buckles are high quality, hand cast buckles. What you don't see is as important as what you do... each kilt is skillfully tailored by hand with heavy canvas and is pad stitched along the back at the top of the pleated area to keep your kilt from sagging, resulting in a lasting, quality garment. In addition, each pleat is backstitched to its neighbor along the seat line, a time consuming process that closes and attaches each pleat, preventing sagging and stretching of the heavy, pleated area. This is a process known as "lifting" which is more often than not ignored because of the labour involved (do you have a kilt? Can you stick a finger up the pleats at all? It hasn't been lifted). Each kilt is finished with black, herringbone weave cotton kilt lining and our own custom label. OUR PRICES: Matching flashes and garters are included.
Light weight tartan kilt:
from £285 (Please ask for more information if you would like a kilt made of solid colour or any other fabric, or if you need a kilt for a child.) Note: Kilts for waists 40" or over, or for lengths 25" and over MAY REQUIRE EXTRA TARTAN and would therefore affect the price. Please inquire first so we can cost out the kilt for you.
We sometimes offer a kilt or hand knitted kilt hose on eBay for a little extra exposure. You might pick up one of our kilts for a discount! Turnaround time of about 6 weeks if an IN STOCK tartan/wool is chosen, if the tartan is not in stock at the mill providing it and must be woven, the turnaround time could be considerably longer for obvious reasons.
